Four types of digital ration cards are provided to the residents of the state by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The types of ration cards offered in Tamil Nadu are given below.

PDS BENEFITS PROVIDED UNDER TNPDS SCHEME

The Tamil Nadu state government provides regular food security benefits to ration card holders under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). Eligible families receive subsidized rice, sugar, oil, and other essential commodities through the Public Distribution System (PDS). The government also provides Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for subsidies and other financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, a one-time relief of ₹1000 was provided to ration cardholders as emergency assistance. Currently, regular monthly PDS benefits continue for all eligible families as per NFSA guidelines.
