- Opening of account:- After proper verification of the eligibility of the candidate an account will be opened in the name of the child. If the child’s age is below 18 years then his or her account will be opened with the district magistrate as joint account holder till he or she attains 18 years of age. For those children whose ages above 18 years on the date of joining of the account a single account will be opened in such a case
- Beneficiary registration- After the identification of the beneficiary the request for seeking support will be filled by the child or caregiver or any other agency producing the child before CWC. All the identified children will be registered on the portal within a week’s time
- Beneficiary verification- After filling the form the completing authority will carry out verification in order to identify eligible beneficiaries. The authorities will check the eligibility criteria of the candidate. If it is found that the child is ineligible then he or she will be disqualified from the scheme and if it is found at the child is qualified then his or her account will be opened in which funds will be transferred.
- Transfer of funds:- After opening the bank account the benefit amount will be credited directly into the account of the beneficiary. Authorities have to disburse the amount into the account of the beneficiaries within one month of the receipt of the fund

The scheme is accessible through an online portal i.e. pmcaresforchildren.in. A calculated amount has been credited in the account of each identified child in such a manner that the corpus for each child becomes Rs. 10 lakhs at the time of attaining 18 years of age.
“The mission is led by the DBT and implemented by BIRAC, a public sector undertaking (PSU) of DBT, at a total cost of Rs900 crore. An amount of Rs180 crore and Rs500 crore has been released by DBT to BIRAC on 12 January 2021 and 21 September 2021, respectively,” the CPIO says.
