🎮 Goa Game is a strategy game that involves auctions and resource management. It is set at the beginning of the 16th century in one of the most significant trading centers in the world, with beautiful beaches and a mild climate. In this Goa game, competing companies deal in spices, send ships and colonists into the world, and invest money. Your success in the game depends on how you invest your profits. Will you make your ships more efficient, enhance your plantations, or recruit more colonists? Only a steady hand in business will help you climb to the top. 🏆

National Games, India’s own multi-sport event

The 2023 National Games, India’s own sports event, much like the Olympics, is about to kick off in Goa this Thursday. It’s a special occasion as Goa, a small state on the southwest coast, is hosting the National Games for the very first time.

This will be the 37th National Games. Goa was initially slated to host the 36th edition of the Games, but it was relocated to Gujarat in 2022 after multiple postponements due to COVID-19.

The National Games will take place in five Goan cities – Mapusa, Margao, Panjim, Ponda, and Vasco. Only the track cycling events and golf will be conducted outside Goa, in Delhi.

The National Games were first held in Lahore, undivided India, in 1924 and were known as the Indian Olympic Games until 1938.

In Goa, over 10,000 athletes will participate, around 3,000 more than the previous edition in Gujarat, competing in 43 sports, including both indoor and outdoor competitions.

This year, the National Games sports program includes the addition of Sqay martial arts, rollball, sepaktakraw, kalaripayattu, pencak silat, and mini golf. Yachting and taekwondo, excluded in Gujarat 2022, will be reintroduced in Goa.

Athletes from 28 states, eight Union Territories, and the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) will showcase their skills at the Games, which will conclude on November 9.

While badminton, weightlifting, and some other events at the National Games 2023 have already commenced, the Games will officially kick off on October 26 with an opening ceremony at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Panaji on Thursday.

Last year, the Services clinched their fourth consecutive title with 128 medals: 61 golds, 35 silvers, and 32 bronzes. A total of 29 teams secured at least one gold medal at the 2022 edition. 🏅
