1win Charity launched a new community project in Dharavi, Mumbai, one of the world’s most crowded neighborhoods. As part of its “We Care. We Share” initiative, the foundation delivered portable solar lamps and food supplies to more than 250 families, giving them a reliable and renewable source of light.
The “Light for Dharavi” project supports broader efforts to improve the area’s living standards. With the addition of solar lighting, over 1,000 people now have a dependable light source to use until better housing becomes available. Families will be able to take their solar lamps with them when they move into upgraded homes.
Some of the donated lamps from 1win app were also installed in public areas such as small squares and alleyways to make these spaces safer for children in the evening.
Actors Gurmeet Choudhary and Nia Sharma supported the campaign by helping to distribute the lamps and food kits. Commenting on the initiative, they said, “Light gives families security and hope. It allows mothers to cook, fathers to work, and kids to study or play. Seeing the homes illuminated fills our hearts with gratitude. We thank 1win for making this positive change happen for hundreds of people in Dharavi.”
Through initiatives like this, 1win continues to expand its support for local communities and drive real change where it is most needed.
