U.S. Capitol Police officer dies after attacker rammed car into checkpoint; suspect also dead

Acting Chief Minister Yogananda Pittman said that a US Capitol police officer was killed and another was injured.

Pittman said the driver was shot after jumping from the car with a knife and failing to respond to verbal commands and “luming” the officers. The suspect was rushed to the hospital and was declared dead a short time later.

Four senior law enforcement officers gave information on the investigation that the suspect has been identified as Noah Green, a 25-year-old man from Indiana.

The fallen officer was identified as William Evans, better known as Billy. Evans was an 18-year veteran of the Capitol Police, and a member of the Capital Division’s First Responder Unit, Pittman said.
The extent of the second officer’s injuries was not clear. The Capitol Police said in a statement on Friday evening that the officer is “in a stable and non-life threatening condition.” Earlier, President Joe Biden said that the officers were “fighting for their lives.”

Pitman said, “I just ask that the public continue with your prayers to the US Capitol Police and their families. It is a very difficult time for the US Capitol Police after the events of January 6 and now about the events here It has been told.

DC. Metropolitan Police Department acting chief Robert Conte said his department would take over the investigation. “It does not appear to be related to terrorism,” Conte said.

Law enforcement sources said Green recently lived in Virginia. In a posting on social media, he told his friends and family that the last few years have been “tough” and the last few have been “tough”.

On his currently deleted Facebook page, he wrote, “I am currently unemployed because I quit my job partly because of suffering, but ultimately, in search of a spiritual journey.”

Green’s page featured several recent postings that referred to the nation’s teachings of Islam, a black separatist movement that does not follow Islam’s traditional teachings, and its leader is Louis Farrakhan. The Nation of Islam has been classified as a “designated hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center, as the SPLC has called the “racist, anti-Semitic, and anti-LGBT rhetoric” of its leaders.

The posting does not state that Green, who is Black, will target the Capitol. He posted about “end times” in one post, and on March 17 in another, “warned about the last days of our world as we know it.”

Green’s final post on Facebook, from March 21, was a YouTube video called “Michael Jackson’s crucifixion”, a 150-minute sermon in which Farhan defends Michael Jackson.
Conti and Pittman said at a news conference about two hours after the attack that the suspect had not previously known their departments. US Attorney General Merrick Garland later said on Friday that the FBI’s Washington Field Office would “assist the Metropolitan Police Department with an investigation into this tragic attack.”

Recommended. The attempt breached at the North Brickered vehicle access point around 1pm. ET, officials said. The Capitol complex was kept closed for about two hours after the incident.

Biden ordered that flags be flown at half-staff at all federal buildings by 6 April in honor of Evans and the other injured officer.

The President said, “We extend our heartfelt condolences to Officer Evans’ family and condolences to everyone. We know this has been a difficult time for the Capitol.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ordered flags to be hoisted at half-staff in honor of the demolished officer in the Capitol, whom she called a “martyr for our democracy”.

Pelosi said, “It may be a comfort to the family of Officer Evans that there is so much mourning and grief for him.”
Congress is on a spring holiday for the week, so the lawmakers returned home and were not working in the building.

A heavy law-enforcement presence on campus quickly descended, including dozens of National Guard soldiers. Two stretchers were seen moving out of the ambulance and a helicopter landed on the eastern side of the Capitol.

A message sent to Congress offices stated, “Due to an external security threat,” there was no entry or exit at this time. You can go all over the building, but stay away from exterior windows and doors. Outside, look for cover. “

Security at the Capitol has been enhanced with additional security measures and personnel since the rush of Trump supporters during the Jan. 6 voter vote before the Congress’s joint session.

During the assault, the Capitol Police and D.C. About 140 officers of the Metropolitan Police Department were injured. One officer, Brian Siknik, died as a result of injuries sustained during the riots and two other officers died by suicide in the weeks following the violence.(nbc news ,nbc news ,nbc news
